Target Information
Rat N-acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) is a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the acetylation of aromatic amines and hydrazines, using acetyl-CoA as a donor. It is highly expressed in liver and intestinal mucosa, where it regulates the detoxification of xenobiotics and the bioactivation of procarcinogens. NAT2 activity exhibits genetic polymorphism, influencing drug metabolism and cancer susceptibility. As a key component of phase II metabolism, NAT2 is an important target for studies of pharmacogenetics, toxicology, and carcinogenesis.
