Mouse Histidine Triad Nucleotide Binding Protein 2 (HINT2) is a mitochondrial enzyme that belongs to the histidine triad superfamily, exhibiting adenosine phosphoramidase and phosphoamidase activities. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphoramidate bonds, regulating cellular nucleotide pools and maintaining mitochondrial function. HINT2 is highly expressed in liver, kidney, and heart, where it modulates apoptosis, oxidative stress, and lipid metabolism. Loss of HINT2 activity disrupts mitochondrial integrity and promotes tumorigenesis. As a key regulator of nucleotide homeostasis and mitochondrial stability, HINT2 is an important target for studies of metabolic disorders, cancer, and mitochondrial biology.
