Target Information
Rat complement component 1, q subcomponent A (C1qA) is a 29-kDa polypeptide subunit of the C1 complex, predominantly expressed in rat liver, spleen, and immune cells (macrophages, dendritic cells). It forms part of the classical complement pathway initiator, binding immune complexes or apoptotic cells to trigger complement activation, opsonization, and inflammation. Critical for maintaining rat innate immunity, host defense against pathogens, and tissue homeostasis via clearance of cellular debris, it modulates adaptive immune responses. Dysregulated expression associates with autoimmune diseases (e.g., lupus), inflammatory disorders, and tissue damage in rat models. As a key mediator of complement-dependent immunity, rat C1qA is a critical target for studying immunological pathobiology and developing anti-inflammatory/autoimmune therapeutics.
