Target Information
Mouse crystallin beta B1 (CRYBB1) is a 25 kDa β-sheet lens protein whose four Greek-key motifs assemble into stable oligomers, maintaining ocular transparency and refractive index. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 92-105) between Greek keys 2 and 3 folds into a β-hairpin unique among mouse β-crystallins, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after denaturation and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native CRYBB1 in lens cortical fibers, retinal pigment epithelium, and cerebellum, delivering crisp cytoplasmic staining and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to CRYBA1 or CRYBB2.
