Target Information
Rat granulin (GRN) is a 67-kDa secreted glycoprotein ubiquitously expressed in rat tissues, with elevated levels in liver, lung, and immune cells (macrophages, neutrophils). It is proteolytically processed into bioactive peptides that regulate rat-specific physiological processes: tissue repair, inflammatory resolution, macrophage activation, and epithelial cell proliferation. Beyond tissue homeostasis, it modulates lysosomal function and extracellular matrix remodeling, supporting wound healing and organ regeneration in rats. Dysregulated expression associates with hepatic fibrosis, pulmonary inflammation, and tumor progression in rat models. As a multifunctional mediator of tissue repair and inflammatory responses, rat GRN is a critical target for studying fibrotic pathobiology, inflammatory disorders, and regenerative medicine therapeutics.
