Target Information
Mouse interferon regulatory factor 5 (IRF5) is a 58-kDa transcription factor widely expressed in mouse immune cells (macrophages, dendritic cells, B cells) and mucosal tissues (lung, intestine). As a key mediator of innate immunity, it is activated by pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and pro-inflammatory cytokines, translocating to the nucleus to bind interferon-stimulated response elements (ISREs) and κB sites. It regulates transcription of type I interferons, pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-α, IL-6), and chemokines, orchestrating antiviral, antibacterial, and inflammatory responses. Critical for balancing immune activation and tolerance, it modulates autoimmune disease susceptibility and host defense in mice. As a central regulator of innate immune signaling, mouse IRF5 is a critical target for studying immunology, inflammatory disorders, and infectious disease pathogenesis.
