Mouse Thrombospondin 4 (THBS4) is a secreted calcium-binding glycoprotein of the thrombospondin family, highly expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, and nervous tissue. It bridges cell surface receptors and extracellular matrix components, modulating synaptogenesis, muscle adhesion, and collagen assembly. THBS4 binds integrins and laminins, promoting tissue integrity under mechanical stress. As a key regulator of neuromuscular and cardiac matrix remodeling, THBS4 is an important target for studies of development, injury repair, and fibrosis.
