Target Information

Rat cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) is a 58-kDa microsomal monooxygenase predominantly expressed in rat liver, lung, and intestinal mucosa, with inducible expression in extrahepatic tissues. It catalyzes the oxidation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), xenobiotics, and endogenous compounds, mediating their metabolism and detoxification or bioactivation. Critical for rat xenobiotic clearance and chemical defense, it modulates pathways involved in oxidative stress and cellular homeostasis. Dysregulated induction associates with chemical-induced carcinogenesis, hepatotoxicity, and pulmonary damage in rat models. As a key mediator of xenobiotic metabolism, rat CYP1A1 is a critical target for studying toxicological pathobiology and developing xenobiotic-induced disease therapeutics.
