Target Information

Rat Phosphodiesterase 3A, cGMP-inhibited (PDE3A) is a membrane-associated enzyme that specifically hydrolyzes cAMP, thereby reducing intracellular cAMP levels and modulating PKA activity. PDE3A is highly expressed in the heart, vascular smooth muscle, and platelets, where it regulates cardiac contractility, vascular tone, and platelet aggregation. Its activity is inhibited by cGMP, providing cross-talk between cyclic nucleotide pathways. As a key regulator of cAMP signaling, PDE3A is an important target for studies of cardiovascular function and potential therapeutic applications in heart failure and hypertension.
