Target Information
Porcine vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2, KDR) is a 208-kDa transmembrane tyrosine kinase specifically expressed in porcine vascular endothelial cells-distributed across systemic vasculature, organ microvessels, and developing tissues (e.g., fetal placenta, postnatal muscle). As the primary functional receptor for porcine VEGF-A, it triggers signaling cascades that drive endothelial proliferation, migration, and capillary tube formation, underpinning physiological angiogenesis, tissue growth, and wound repair in swine. It also modulates vascular barrier function and endothelial survival, critical for maintaining circulatory homeostasis in healthy and pathological states (e.g., inflammation, tissue ischemia). As a key mediator of porcine vascular plasticity, it is a critical target for studying swine cardiovascular physiology, veterinary tissue regeneration, and porcine models of angiogenic disorders.
