Mouse Tubulin Beta 1 (TUBB1) is a neuron-specific β-tubulin isoform that polymerizes with α-tubulin to form microtubules essential for axonal transport, dendritic spine stability, and synaptic plasticity. Expressed abundantly in developing and adult brain, TUBB1 confers unique dynamic properties to neuronal microtubules, facilitating rapid assembly and disassembly required for growth-cone navigation and activity-dependent remodeling. As a selective marker of neuronal cytoskeleton, TUBB1 is an important target for studies of neurodevelopment, axonal integrity, and cytoskeletal-based neuropathies.
