Target Information
Mouse low density lipoprotein receptor adaptor protein 1 (LDLRAP1) is a 26-kDa cytoplasmic adaptor protein predominantly expressed in murine liver, kidney, and intestinal epithelium. It interacts with LDL receptors (LDLR) and clathrin, mediating endocytosis of LDL-cholesterol complexes to regulate cellular cholesterol uptake and systemic lipid homeostasis. Critical for maintaining murine cholesterol metabolism and preventing circulating lipid accumulation, it modulates lipoprotein clearance pathways. Dysregulated expression or mutations associate with hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, and lipid deposition in mouse models, as impaired receptor-mediated endocytosis disrupts lipid balance. As a key mediator of cholesterol trafficking, mouse LDLRAP1 is a critical target for studying lipid-related pathobiology and developing therapeutics for cardiovascular disorders.
