Rat Growth Differentiation Factor 11 (GDF11) is a secreted TGF-β superfamily ligand that regulates embryonic patterning, cardiac development and adult tissue remodeling. Highly expressed in kidney, heart and skeletal muscle, it signals through activin-like receptors to modulate cell proliferation and differentiation. Specific antibodies detect the mature, active dimer without cross-reactivity to GDF8/myostatin, enabling accurate quantification of GDF11 in serum, tissue homogenates and fixed sections for developmental, aging and regenerative studies in rat models.
