Target Information
Mouse cadherin-16 (Ksp-cadherin) is a 82 kDa type-I cadherin whose six EC repeats lock onto identical molecules on neighboring renal tubule cells, anchoring the adherens belt in the proximal nephron. A solvent-exposed 18-residue "DEE" loop (aa 310-327) between EC3 and EC4 folds into a β-hairpin unique among classical cadherins, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after paraformaldehyde fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native cadherin-16 in kidney cortex, Henle's loop, and collecting ducts, delivering crisp lateral membrane staining and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to E-cadherin or N-cadherin.
