Target Information

Mouse chordin-like 1 (CHRDL1, Ventroptin) is a 35 kDa secreted BMP antagonist whose two von Willebrand type C domains clamp BMP-4 and BMP-7, modulating neural patterning and eye development. A solvent-exposed 15-aa "KVE" loop (aa 185-199) between the second vWC domain and the C-terminal tail folds into a β-hairpin unique among mouse BMP regulators, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after secretion and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native CHRDL1 in retinal ganglion cells, cerebellar granule layers, and meningeal basement membranes, delivering crisp extracellular tracks and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to chordin or twisted gastrulation.
