Target Information
Rat dopamine receptor D1 (DRD1) is a 49-kDa G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) predominantly expressed in rat brain regions-including the striatum, prefrontal cortex, and nucleus accumbens. It binds dopamine to activate adenylyl cyclase, triggering cAMP-dependent signaling cascades that regulate neuronal excitability, synaptic plasticity, and neurotransmitter release. Beyond neural function, it modulates motor control, cognitive processes (learning, memory), reward pathways, and emotional regulation in rats. With limited expression in peripheral tissues, its brain-specific role is central to dopaminergic system homeostasis. As a key mediator of dopaminergic signaling, rat DRD1 is a critical target for studying neuropsychiatric disorders, movement disorders, and central nervous system (CNS) drug development.
