Mouse Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4, gut) is a zinc-finger transcription factor highly enriched in intestinal epithelium, where it controls proliferation, differentiation, and barrier integrity. Nuclear expression peaks at the crypt-villus junction, making it a selective marker for enterocyte maturation and goblet-cell fate. Specific antibody staining provides crisp visualization of epithelial turnover along the gut axis and sensitive read-out of mucosal stress in development, infection, and colitis models.
