Target Information
Mouse Succinate Dehydrogenase Complex Subunit A (SDHA) is the 70 kDa flavoprotein catalytic core of mitochondrial Complex II. It oxidizes succinate to fumarate, concomitantly reducing FAD to FADH₂ and feeding electrons into the respiratory chain. SDHA is expressed in all aerobic tissues, coupling the citric-acid cycle to oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Loss-of-function mutations disrupt energy metabolism and elevate succinate, driving pseudohypoxic signaling. As an essential metabolic hub, SDHA is a key target for studies of mitochondrial disease, cancer metabolism, and oxidative stress.
