Specifications
Target Information
Mouse Laminin Alpha 5 is a 400 kDa subunit that assembles with beta-1 and gamma-1 chains to form laminin-511, a basement-membrane glycoprotein essential for epithelial-mesenchymal anchorage, vascular stability, and neuromuscular junction integrity. It is constitutively produced by endothelial cells, keratinocytes, and mesenchymal cells, creating a scaffold that integrates collagen IV, perlecan, and nidogen. Its large N-terminal domain binds cell-surface integrins α3β1, α6β1, and α7X1β1, enabling adhesion, migration, and mechanotransduction. Antibodies to laminin alpha 5 enable precise localization of basement membranes and quantitative assessment of extracellular-matrix remodeling in mouse development, fibrosis, and tumor models.
