Target Information

Mouse Phospholipase A2, Group III (PLA2G3) is a secreted, calcium-dependent enzyme that selectively hydrolyzes the sn-2 acyl bond of phospholipids to release free fatty acids and lysophospholipids. Highly expressed in mast cells, macrophages, and vascular endothelium, PLA2G3 generates lipid mediators critical for membrane remodeling, eicosanoid synthesis, and innate immunity. Its activity is tightly regulated by calcium levels and subcellular localization, ensuring controlled lipid signaling. As a key regulator of inflammatory lipid cascades, PLA2G3 is an important target for studies of allergy, atherosclerosis, and host defense.
