Target Information

Mouse Serine/Threonine Kinase 11 (STK11, LKB1) is a master kinase that phosphorylates and activates AMPK and twelve related kinases, linking cellular energy status to growth control. It is expressed in liver, muscle, and brain, where it suppresses proliferation, supports metabolic homeostasis, and maintains DNA integrity. STK11 activity is triggered by low ATP or genotoxic stress, halting biosynthetic pathways and promoting autophagy. Loss of STK11 predisposes to tumorigenesis and metabolic disorders. As a central metabolic checkpoint, STK11 is a key target for studies of cancer, energy metabolism, and stress signaling.
