Target Information
Mouse platelet-derived growth factor C (PDGFC) is a 34-kDa secreted growth factor ubiquitously expressed in murine tissues, with enriched levels in kidney, lung, and developing embryos. It forms homodimers to bind PDGFRα/β receptors, activating PI3K-AKT and MAPK pathways that regulate cell proliferation, migration, and extracellular matrix synthesis. Critical for murine embryonic development (e.g., kidney morphogenesis, angiogenesis) and tissue repair, it modulates stromal cell recruitment and wound healing. Dysregulated expression associates with fibrosis (pulmonary, renal), glioma progression, and vascular anomalies in mouse models. As a key mediator of stromal-epithelial crosstalk and tissue remodeling, mouse PDGFC is a critical target for studying fibrotic pathobiology, cancer stroma formation, and regenerative medicine therapeutics.
