Target Information
Mouse succinate dehydrogenase complex subunit D (SDHD) anchors the electron-transferring SDHC subunit to the inner mitochondrial membrane, shaping the hydrophobic belt that seals ubiquinone reduction. This 17 kDa integral membrane protein contributes the heme ligand that fine-tunes electron flux from succinate to coenzyme Q, stabilizing Complex II against oxidative stress. Its tyrosine-rich matrix loops create a docking platform for supernumerary factors that modulate tricarboxylic acid cycle flux and mitochondrial morphology. SDHD's exposed C-terminal tail offers a specific, conformation-sensitive epitope for quantitative detection of intact Complex II in respirasome assemblies, immunoprecipitation, and super-resolution mapping of mitochondrial ultrastructure.
