Target Information
Mouse kidney and brain protein (KBP) is a 38 kDa cytosolic coiled-coil tether that bridges microtubule plus-ends to the dynein-dynactin motor complex, steering retrograde cargo toward the centrosome. A membrane-proximal polybasic patch (aa 180-190) transiently anchors it to Golgi and endosomal surfaces, aligning trafficking routes in renal proximal tubules and cortical neurons. Antibodies raised against the signature KEEED motif-unique among MAPs-detect native KBP in frozen kidney sections, hippocampal axons, and soluble brain lysates, giving crisp puncta without cross-reaction with conventional MAP1B or CLIP-170.
