Target Information

Mouse Ubiquitin Carboxyl-Terminal Hydrolase L1 (UCHL1) is a neuron-specific de-ubiquitinating enzyme that recycles ubiquitin from degraded proteins, sustaining free ubiquitin pools essential for synaptic function. It is expressed almost exclusively in neurons and neuroendocrine cells, where it stabilizes monomeric ubiquitin and modulates neurotransmitter release. UCHL1 activity is vital for maintaining neuronal ubiquitin homeostasis and is implicated in neuroprotection. Antibodies to UCHL1 enable specific detection and functional analysis of neuronal ubiquitin pathways in mouse brain and spinal-cord models.
