Specifications
Target Information
Rat heat shock 70 kDa protein 5 (HSPA5, GRP78/BiP) is a 78-kDa endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident chaperone ubiquitously expressed in rat tissues, with elevated levels in secretory organs (liver, pancreas) and ER-stressed cells. It mediates protein folding, prevents misfolding/aggregation, and regulates ER stress signaling via the unfolded protein response (UPR). Critical for maintaining ER homeostasis, cellular viability, and secretory pathway function in rats, its dysregulation associates with metabolic diseases, neurodegeneration, and cancer. As a key mediator of ER stress adaptation and protein quality control, rat HSPA5 is a critical target for studying ER-related pathobiology, stress response mechanisms, and chaperone-targeted therapeutics.
