Target Information
Rat protease-activated receptor 1 (PAR1) is a 42-kDa G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) predominantly expressed in rat platelets, vascular endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells. It is activated via proteolytic cleavage by thrombin, triggering downstream signaling cascades that regulate platelet aggregation, vascular tone, and inflammation. Critical for maintaining rat hemostasis, thrombosis, and tissue repair, it modulates vascular remodeling and leukocyte recruitment. Dysregulated activation associates with thrombosis, atherosclerosis, and inflammatory disorders in rat models, as aberrant signaling drives vascular dysfunction. As a key mediator of coagulation-inflammatory crosstalk, rat PAR1 is a critical target for studying cardiovascular pathobiology and developing antithrombotic/anti-inflammatory therapeutics.
