Target Information
Mouse fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4, A-FABP) is a 15-kDa cytoplasmic lipid chaperone predominantly expressed in mouse adipocytes and macrophages, with minor expression in mast cells and endothelial cells. It specifically binds long-chain fatty acids and lipid metabolites, facilitating their intracellular transport, regulating lipid storage, and modulating lipid-dependent signaling pathways. By interacting with transcription factors and inflammatory mediators, it links adipose lipid metabolism to systemic inflammation and insulin sensitivity. Critical for murine adipocyte differentiation, adipose tissue expansion, and metabolic homeostasis, its dysregulation contributes to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. As a key mediator of lipid metabolism and metabolic inflammation, mouse FABP4 is a critical target for studying metabolic disorders and adipose tissue biology.
