Target Information

Mouse testis fatty acid-binding protein 9 (FABP9) is a 15 kDa cytosolic lipid chaperone whose β-barrel calyx shelters long-chain unsaturated fatty acids inside late spermatocytes and Sertoli cells. A solvent-exposed CD-turn (aa 38-46) carries a testis-restricted QSK triplet absent from other FABP isoforms, creating a conformational epitope that survives methacarn fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this turn trace native FABP9 in seminiferous tubules, caput epididymis, and detergent-resistant lipid droplets, yielding crisp cytoplasmic rings and single-band specificity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to FABP4 or FABP5.
