Target Information

Mouse Cartilage Intermediate Layer Protein (CILP) is a secreted extracellular matrix component that accumulates specifically in the mid-zone of articular cartilage. Synthesized by chondrocytes in response to mechanical loading, it interacts with TGF-β and fibronectin to modulate matrix assembly and growth-factor signaling. High-affinity antibodies detect the native ~150 kDa glycoprotein without cross-reactivity to CILP2 or COMP, providing a selective marker for cartilage maturation, load adaptation and early joint degeneration in developmental and osteoarthritis mouse models.
