Target Information
Rat fatty acid binding protein 1 (FABP1, L-FABP) is a 15-kDa cytoplasmic lipid chaperone predominantly expressed in rat hepatocytes, with minor expression in intestinal epithelium and kidney proximal tubules. It specifically binds long-chain fatty acids, bile acids, and lipid metabolites, facilitating their intracellular transport, storage, and metabolism. By regulating fatty acid uptake, β-oxidation, and lipid signaling, it maintains hepatic lipid homeostasis and supports energy metabolism. It also modulates inflammatory responses and oxidative stress in the liver, adapting to nutritional changes or pathological stimuli (e.g., obesity, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease). As a key mediator of rat hepatic lipid metabolism and cellular homeostasis, FABP1 is a critical target for studying metabolic disorders, liver physiology, and lipid-related pathologies.
