Target Information

Bilirubin (BR), which is also known as hematoidin, is a red-orange compound produced in the normal catabolic pathway that breaks down heme in vertebrates. Increasing the concentration of magnesium ions resulted in a gradual increase in erythrocyte-bound bilirubin in both human and buffalo erythrocytes, whereas in sheep and goat erythrocytes the most pronounced increase was found above 2.0 and 2.7 mM MgCl2 concentrations, respectively.
