Target Information

MMP-1 can degrade extracellular matrix (ECM) components such as collagen and hyaluronic acid. In mice, MMP-1 is primarily involved in tumor biology, cell migration, matrix degradation, inflammatory response, and tissue remodeling. In mouse xenograft models, silencing MMP-1 has a dual effect, promoting local tumor growth and enhancing angiogenesis. This leads to increased local tumor growth and primary tumor angiogenesis, with minimal impact on systemic disease burden, suggesting that MMP-1 may influence the local tumor microenvironment by promoting cell migration and invasion. Additionally, MMP-1 is recognized as a pro-metastatic factor in breast cancer lung metastasis and primary lung cancer.
