Target Information

Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP) is a cyclic nucleotide derived from guanosine triphosphate (GTP). It acts as a second messenger, much like cyclic AMP, and is involved in regulating ion channel conductance, glycogenolysis, and cellular apoptosis. It has been reported that cGMP-mediated phosphorylation of heat shock protein 20 may cause smooth muscle relaxation without myosin light chain dephosphorylation in swine carotid artery.
