Target Information

Urotensin-2 is an extremely potent vasoconstrictor. In mice, urotensin-2 (UII) is a peptide that plays a variety of physiological roles and has a significant presence and function. UII and related peptides, such as UII-related peptides (URPs), are prominently expressed and functional at the neuromuscular junction in mice. These peptides are widely distributed throughout the central nervous system, including areas like the brainstem and spinal cord, where they exert their biological effects by activating UT receptors (Urotensin receptors). UII and URPs are also present in mouse skeletal muscle and are co-expressed with homologous proteins like synaptophysin in certain muscles, suggesting they hold important biological functions at the neuromuscular junction.
