Target Information

In mice, the IL17D gene encodes interleukin 17D (IL-17D). This cytokine is broadly expressed outside the hematopoietic compartment and is found in limited amounts in the bone marrow, thymus, and spleen. Previous research in mice has shown that IL-17D is induced by viral infection, is constitutively expressed in immunogenic cancer cells, and is directly induced by the antioxidant transcription factor Nrf2. In mice lacking adaptive immunity, IL17D expression is protective against MCMV infection, suggesting that IL17D also plays a role in innate immunity.
