Target Information

Mouse Sphingosine-1-phosphate Lyase 1 (SGPL1) is an ER-associated enzyme that irreversibly cleaves sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) into hexadecenal and phosphoethanolamine, terminating S1P signaling. Highly expressed in brain, spleen, and thymus, it controls lymphocyte trafficking, vascular integrity, and lipid homeostasis. Loss of SGPL1 activity elevates S1P pools, disrupting immune cell egress and vascular permeability. As a critical modulator of sphingolipid metabolism, SGPL1 is an important target for studies of immune regulation, angiogenesis, and metabolic disorders.
