Target Information

Mouse transmembrane protein 27 (TMEM27), also known as collectrin, is a 22 kDa single-span membrane glycoprotein enriched in renal proximal tubules and pancreatic β-cells. Its extracellular domain captures luminal amino acids, while the short cytoplasmic tail clusters with trafficking adaptors to regulate endocytosis and surface recycling of the amino-acid transporter SLC6A19. The juxtamembrane stalk exposes a protease-accessible loop that releases a soluble ectodomain, enabling detection of both full-length and cleaved forms. Antibodies targeting the N-terminal ectodomain visualize apical brush-border staining, β-cell granule membranes, and circulating cleavage fragments without cross-reactivity to related ACE homologs.
