Target Information
Rat focal adhesion kinase (FAK, PTK2) is a 125-kDa non-receptor tyrosine kinase widely expressed in rat tissues-with enriched levels in migratory and adherent cells (e.g., fibroblasts, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells). It localizes to focal adhesions, acting as a central hub for integrating extracellular matrix (ECM)-integrin signals and intracellular cytoskeletal cues. Upon activation, it phosphorylates downstream substrates to regulate cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, and survival, supporting tissue development, wound healing, and vascular remodeling. Critical for mediating mechanical stress responses and cell-ECM crosstalk, it maintains tissue integrity in physiological and pathological contexts (e.g., inflammation, tissue repair). As a key mediator of cellular adhesive and migratory processes, rat FAK is a critical target for studying vascular biology, wound healing disorders, and cancer metastasis.
