Target Information
Mouse interleukin 33 (IL-33) is a 30-kDa alarmin cytokine predominantly expressed in mouse epithelial cells (lung, gut, skin) and stromal cells. It is released upon tissue damage or inflammation, binding to its receptor ST2 (with IL-1RAcP co-receptor) on mast cells, Th2 cells, and regulatory T cells. This activates downstream NF-κB and MAPK signaling, driving production of Th2 cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13) and modulating allergic, inflammatory, and tissue repair responses. Critical for murine mucosal immunity and tissue homeostasis, its dysregulation associates with asthma, allergic rhinitis, and autoimmune diseases. As a key mediator of type 2 immunity and tissue damage responses, mouse IL-33 is a critical target for studying inflammatory pathologies and immunotherapeutic development.
