Target Information
Mouse oxoguanine glycosylase 1 (OGG1) is a 39-kDa DNA repair enzyme ubiquitously expressed in murine tissues, with elevated levels in proliferative cells (bone marrow, intestinal epithelium) and oxidative stress-prone organs (liver, kidney). It initiates base excision repair (BER) by recognizing and excising 8-oxoguanine (8-oxoG)-a major oxidative DNA lesion-preventing G:C to T:A transversions. Critical for maintaining genomic stability, DNA integrity, and cellular resistance to oxidative stress in mice, it modulates pathways involved in aging, inflammation, and tumor suppression. Dysregulated activity associates with carcinogenesis, neurodegeneration, and age-related diseases. As a key mediator of oxidative DNA damage repair, mouse OGG1 is a critical target for studying DNA repair mechanisms and developing therapeutics for cancer and age-related pathologies.
