Target Information
Mouse bone morphogenetic protein 9 (BMP9) is a 22-kDa secreted growth factor belonging to the TGF-β superfamily, predominantly expressed in mouse liver, kidney, and vascular endothelial cells. It binds to heteromeric receptors (ALK1/2 and BMPRII) to activate Smad-dependent signaling, regulating angiogenesis, endothelial cell proliferation, and vascular homeostasis. Beyond vascular biology, it modulates osteogenic differentiation, hepatic metabolism, and tissue repair in mice. Critical for embryonic vascular development and adult tissue homeostasis, its dysregulation links to vascular disorders, osteoporosis, and hepatic pathologies. As a multifunctional morphogen, mouse BMP9 is a critical target for studying developmental biology, vascular diseases, and regenerative medicine strategies.
