Mouse Chitinase-3-like Protein 1 (CHI3L1), also known as YKL-40, is a glycoprotein primarily expressed in macrophages, neutrophils, and certain epithelial cells. Although it lacks chitinase activity, CHI3L1 is involved in various biological processes. It plays a role in inflammation, tissue remodeling, and cell proliferation. In the context of immune responses, CHI3L1 contributes to the recruitment and activation of immune cells. Additionally, it is implicated in the regulation of extracellular matrix components and has been associated with tissue repair and fibrosis.
