Target Information
Mouse Phosphatidylethanolamine-binding Protein 1 (PEBP1, also known as RKIP) is an evolutionarily conserved cytosolic protein that binds phosphatidylethanolamine and functions as a kinase modulator. It inhibits the Raf-MEK-ERK cascade by blocking Raf-1 phosphorylation of MEK and suppresses GRK2-mediated GPCR desensitization, thereby fine-tuning mitogenic and survival signals. PEBP1 is expressed in brain, heart, liver, and reproductive tissues, where it influences neuronal differentiation, cardiac conduction, and apoptosis. As a key regulator of kinase signaling and lipid interactions, PEBP1 is an important target for studies of cancer, neuroprotection, and cardiovascular biology.
