Target Information

Rat UDP-Glucuronosyltransferase 2 Family, Polypeptide B7 (UGT2B7) is a liver-envelope enzyme that catalyzes the glucuronidation of steroids, opioids, and fatty acids, converting them to water-soluble conjugates for biliary or renal excretion. It is expressed in liver and intestinal mucosa, where it controls systemic levels of steroid hormones and limits oral bioavailability of xenobiotics. UGT2B7 activity is inducible by xenobiotics and subject to sex-specific regulation, influencing drug clearance and metabolic homeostasis. As a key phase II detoxification enzyme, UGT2B7 is an important target for studies of pharmacokinetics, steroid metabolism, and chemical detoxification.
