Target Information
Mouse latent transforming growth factor beta binding protein 1 (LTBP1) is a 190-kDa secreted glycoprotein widely expressed in mouse connective tissues, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts. It forms complexes with latent TGF-β, regulating its secretion, extracellular matrix (ECM) sequestration, and activation. By anchoring latent TGF-β to ECM components (e.g., fibrillins), LTBP1 controls TGF-β bioavailability, enabling context-dependent activation during tissue repair, development, and immune regulation. Critical for murine embryonic development, wound healing, and ECM homeostasis, its dysregulation associates with fibrosis, cardiovascular diseases, and tumor progression. As a key modulator of TGF-β signaling, mouse LTBP1 is a critical target for studying fibrotic pathobiology, developmental biology, and TGF-β-targeted therapeutics.
