Mouse urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) is a 48 kDa serine protease that targets the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, initiating fibrinolysis and extracellular-matrix remodeling. Its kringle and protease domains present a unique, species-restricted epitope ideal for antibody generation; anti-uPA immunoreagents detect active enzyme, pro-uPA and receptor-bound forms in plasma, tissue extracts and conditioned media without cross-reacting with tissue-type plasminogen activator, providing a precise read-out of fibrinolytic activity and tissue remodeling.
