Target Information
Mouse L-type voltage-gated calcium channel α1C (CACNA1C) is the pore-forming subunit of the CaV1.2 channel, mediating depolarization-induced calcium influx in heart, brain, and smooth muscle. It triggers excitation-contraction coupling in cardiomyocytes, modulates synaptic plasticity in neurons, and supports arterial tone. The α1C subunit associates with β, α2δ, and γ accessory proteins to regulate channel gating and membrane targeting. As a critical mediator of calcium signaling, CACNA1C is an important target for studies of cardiovascular physiology, neurotransmission, and channelopathies.
