Target Information
Mouse Fos-like antigen 1 (FOSL1, Fra-1) is a 40 kDa leucine-zipper protein whose N-terminal basic region grips AP-1 DNA motifs while a C-terminal trans-activation domain partners with c-Jun, driving immediate-early transcription. A solvent-exposed 16-residue "QEK" loop (aa 95-110) between zipper heptads 4 and 5 folds into a β-turn unique among mouse Fos paralogs, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after phosphorylation and fixation. Antibodies targeting this loop trace native FOSL1 in hippocampal neurons, osteoblastic progenitors, and activated fibroblasts, delivering crisp nuclear puncta and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to c-Fos or FOSL2.
