Mouse Chromodomain Helicase DNA Binding Protein 3 (CHD3) is an ATP-dependent chromatin-remodeling factor that represses transcription by sliding and evicting nucleosomes. Its tandem chromodomains bind methylated histone H3K9, targeting the enzyme to heterochromatic regions and developmentally silenced genes. Constitutively expressed in brain, thymus and fibroblasts, CHD3 offers a selective marker for condensed chromatin. Monoclonal antibodies detect the native 230 kDa protein without cross-reactivity to CHD4, enabling precise mapping of silent chromatin domains during development, differentiation and stress responses.
